Special event HIKE Inc. this Sunday 2 November

HIKE Inc. is very excited to announce a special event hike this Sunday.
We will be going to the Werribee Sewage Farm - I am serious and we are thrilled. Read on for more details ....

The Farm is actually an amazing place - it has a treatment plant (it's ok, you will not see any p**) but is also:
  • one of Australia's most populous farms (about 20k sheep and 40k cattle)
  • a world famous bird sanctuary (it is part of the United Nations Wetlands Treaty, it has around 2 million birds)
  • very historical (buildings from circa 1850)
And it is restricted - you need a permit and a key to access it, both very difficult to come by. We're fortunate that Andrew is a bird watcher from way back and is organising this for us. It's not an opportunity you will come by very often.

With regards to hiking - the terrain is laser flat, we'll probably hike for 3-4 hours, and possibly drive around the Farm as well to view the buildings.

If you are interested, I will need to know by end of day Thursday at the latest, as we need to provide names to Melbourne Water. And we will need to organise car loads (we may need to restrict numbers).

Where: Werribee Sewage Farm
Meet: Andrew's house in Newport (I will provide his address when I confirm your attendance)
Time: 9am for a 9.30am departure

The terrain does not have any cover, be sure to bring a sunhat, sunscreen, raincoat, plenty of water, lunch and snacks.
