But be prepared for the uphill! This hike is described as a strenuous 13.8km, 4-5 hour hike that is rated Moderate/Difficult. (If you prefer though, there is an option one third of the way into the hike that avoids the strenuous climb, is 9.3km and rated Moderate.)

Where to meet: Gembrook Bakery, 83 Main Street, Shop 2
Hike start: Mortimer Picnic Ground, Bunyip State Park, Gembrook (around 69km from Melbourne)
Time: 9.30am for a 10am departure
Getting there:
Drive 38km to Belgrave along the Burwood Highway and continue a further 24km to Gembrook. Meet at the Gembrook Bakery in town.
We will then drive through town (towards Beenak East) and along the unsealed Gembrook - Tonimbuk Road for 7km to Mortimer Picnic Ground on the left.
Please bring water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, and a raincoat. And be sure to let me know if you are joining us. If you'd like to car pool, also let me know.
