Wow, a Red Knot, HIKE Inc. 33

Ever seen a Red Knot? Did you know that birds can have red eyebrows? Our birdwatching hike at the Werribee Sewage Farm revealed this and more over the 5 hours of walking and birdwatching.

We were honoured (and somewhat humoured) to have 2 avid birdwatchers amongst us - Andrew who was very (or at least 3/4) excited by his sighting of a Red Knot, and Richard who counted (and listed in his notebook) 49 bird species on the day, 16 of which were his first ever sightings.

The favourites amongst those of us less knowledgeable about birds were the many pelicans. See photos below, and be informed that most are not staged, binoculars were seriously used on the day!

The next hike will be on Sunday 7 December.
